    Boeing General Motors and AMD are among the companies that have announced layoffs in recent weeks, joining Tesla Alphabet and Amazon among major companies to cut jobs this year. The layoffs this year suggest that companies are cutting in more targeted areas—even as some of the biggest tech companies have continued to grow, adding more jobs than they’ve cut. The company, better known as AMD, had a global workforce of 26,000 as of Dec. 31, according to its latest annual filing.
