US futures, bitcoin nears $100K, Trump Treasury search: 3 Things

US stock futures (ES=F, NQ=F, YM=F) settle down Friday morning after an eventful trading week as Nvidia (NVDA) shares fluctuate since reporting third quarter earnings this past Wednesday. Bitcoin (BTC-USD) temporarily rose above $99,000 earlier this morning, hitting a new record high as it nears the $100,000 mark. The cryptocurrency has rallied higher on Thursday's headlines of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler's plans to retire this January with the crypto space optimistic over more crypto-friendly regulation in a second Trump administration. The search continues for President-elect Donald Trump's Treasury secretary pick as he fills out Cabinet nominations. The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration is favoring former Federal Reserve governor Kevin Warsh for this role, with plans to possibly nominate him to lead the Federal Reserve after current Chair Jerome Powell's term expires in 2026.
