Employee survey site Glassdoor just revealed its top 100 CEOs list, and Zoom Video Communications’ Eric Yuan is this year’s favorite chief executive.

Yuan, who helms the San Jose-based company, edged out Michael Mahoney of Boston Scientific and Daniel Springer of DocuSign.

Notable big-time CEOs like Michael Bloomberg and Tim Cook plunged in the rankings, with employees citing discontentment with the work culture and problems communicating with the management.

The top 100 list was part of Glassdoor’s annual Employee’s Choice Awards, where it honored CEOs across North America and parts of Europe, featuring executives from many industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and technology.

The results were compiled from employee reviews on Glassdoor. Employees were asked to rate several factors tied to their employment experiences, such as sentiment around the CEO’s leadership, workplace attributes regarding senior management, and more.

For the CEO rating, in particular, employees were asked to report whether they approve or disapprove or are neutral about the CEO’s performance. About 770,000 employers were reviewed on Glassdoor, and the average CEO rating was 69%.

“We deliver happiness”

Yuan’s focus on employees’ happiness won him the top spot.

“I need to make sure I’m happy, and that my employees are happy,” said Yuan. “Asking myself that question, I realized if I’m not happy, my kids, my family will be impacted. Our employees will also be impacted. So that’s why our company culture is to deliver happiness.”

Being on the top of the list helps the company with recruiting top talent at a time when there are more job openings than there are people to fill them.

“It can be a real recruiting advantage to have a top-rated CEO at the helm of a company who has strong support from his or her employees,” Robert Hohman, Glassdoor’s co-founder and CEO, said in a press release. “The best CEOs are inspiring, trustworthy, innovative and can be great motivators for people to bring their best selves to work.”
