Yahoo Finance ? 20 minutes ago AMD GOOG AMZN Tesla stock surges despite Trump's uncertain EV support Tesla (TSLA) stock is soaring after former President Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. While CEO Elon Musk was a vocal supporter of Trump, the President-elect has not expressed the same enthusiasm for the electric vehicle industry. "It's interesting because there's a lot of government help or regulation or incentive all pushing the electric vehicle transition, and Tesla's absolutely benefited from that. But we also know that Donald Trump doesn't necessarily support that thinking," iSeeCars.com Executive Analyst Karl Brauer told Yahoo Finance. Brauer notes that a "government-led transition to EVs" is not a concept that Trump has embraced. He points to the broader EV market beyond Tesla, noting that other stocks in the sector are not experiencing the same rally as Tesla. "It's interesting to see that people feel like Elon's relationship with Donald Trump will overcome a potential shift in policy," he adds. Moving forward, Brauer believes that Trump's policy regarding EVs may hurt the sector, including Tesla. Yahoo Finance ? 3 hours ago NONOF NVO LLY As bitcoin hits record high, crypto traders 'confident' on Trump promises Bitcoin (BTC-USD) broke above $75,000 early Wednesday morning — a record high — as the crypto space rallies on Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, an upward trend overtaking equity markets as well. Bitcoin was considered to be a part of the "Trump Trade" as holders backed the likelihood of a second Trump presidency in the lead-up to the election. Morning Brief welcomes on Axios crypto reporter Brady Dale to speak more about President-Elect Trump's relationship with the crypto community. "The first thing is probably he's going to get a new SEC [Securities and Exchange Commission} chair, someone else who is not going to be quite so hostile to the industry, isn't going to sue all of the best companies in the space," Dale hypothesizes. "And I think on that question is just what happens to all these lawsuits and threats of lawsuits — Do do a lot of settlements happen? Do they just get thrown out? Because these companies need to know that they can move forward." Brady — the author of SBF: How The FTX Bankruptcy Unwound Crypto's Very Bad Good Guy — describes cryptocurrency traders as being "confident" in the fact that Trump will follow through on some of his crypto policy promises, which could lead a push into stablecoin adoption. Infrastructure Capital Advisors CEO Jay Hatfield joins Market Domination Hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to break down what the election means for markets. "We actually have a differentiated view, which is that it really doesn't matter that much unless there's a sweep by one side or the other," Hatfield tells Yahoo Finance. He notes "We think generally these trades are overdone, with the one exception that major changes in corporate tax rates can be great or horrific for markets." Hatfield says he'll be focused on the Senate race, explaining "We don't think it's knowable on the House or the presidential [election], but the Senate is completely different. It's [an] almost unprecedented advantage to the Republicans. And it's in states that aren't driven as much by turnout. They're not swing states. You could very well get this Senate locked up, which would create stability in the markets and probably spark a rally. And that's why we increased our [S&P 500] target, not for this year, but for next year ... Just to tell people, even though the market's expensive, we still think you should stay long through the end of the year." "We think the stock market might be better off assuming divided government with a Harris presidency," he says, explaining that a second Trump presidency would result in a Democratic sweep come midterms which could create fears of instability in the market. The San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected arguments by lawyers for Tesla investors that the instructions jurors received on the law from the judge presiding over the case before they delivered their verdict in February 2023 were flawed, warranting a new trial. Lawyers for Tesla shareholders argued the jury instructions were confusing and impermissibly heightened their burden of proof by requiring them to establish Musk knowingly made false statements when he wrote his posts on Twitter, the platform now known as X following Musk's $44 billion acquisition of it in 2022.
