Weak jobs data for the month of July rocked markets, bringing up questions about a potential recession. Roth MKM Partners chief economist and macro strategist Michael Darda joins Yahoo Finance to discuss the likelihood of a recession after weak jobs data, and what the triggering of the Sahm Rule means for future rate cuts.

Darda says there has been a very persistent rise" in the unemployment rate and in the under-employment rate, noting "those two things have never been seen outside of recessions."

Darda explains that "if the economy really is just now falling into recession, the Fed's going to end up way behind the curve for a bit here."
